Information Literacy (IL)* Help!

Are your students using web pages indiscriminately for research papers and not citing their sources?

Do you spend a lot of time with them, one by one, helping them learn how to do information research, how to think critically about information sources, and how to use information effectively and ethically?

You can save time and help your students become information literate by working with librarians.

Librarians can…

  • Teach an IL class session as a guest speaker.
  • Develop and teach a 1-unit information literacy course as an adjunct to your course.
  • Work with you to enhance your syllabus by creating or adapting IL assignments and exercises designed to support your course goals and curriculum.
  • Answer information research questions on your class discussion board.
  • Make half-hour one-on-one research appointments with your students.
  • Develop an information resources web page for your class.

We already offer…

  • English Composition 123: 1-unit adjunct IL course (offered each quarter—enrollment open to all undergrads; assignments may be tailored to support your course assignments) <http://www2.library.ucla.edu/service/6370.cfm>
