UCLA Materials
- Request a Search for Items Missing from the Shelf
If the library material you need is not on the shelf, use the online form to request a search for the item. Please check the shelf on two separate days before placing your request. This gives our staff time to shelve materials that have been in use.
- Request Items in the Southern Regional Library Facility (SRLF)
The SRLF houses low-use materials, archives, manuscripts, and fragile materials in need of special handling. UCLA faculty, staff, and students may request materials from the SRLF via the UCLA Library Catalog “Request an Item” tab and pick them up in any campus library.
- Request Books and Documents from UCLA Libraries
The UCLA Library offers current UC, as well as non-UC, users fee-based options for obtaining materials available in campus libraries. Current UCLA faculty, staff, and students may sign up for the document delivery service to have UCLA Library materials delivered directly to them.

Materials Not Owned by UCLA
- California Digital Library Request Feature
Requests for materials not owned by UCLA libraries may be submitted automatically while using the Melvyl Catalog and CDL-licensed databases on the Web. Service is restricted to current UCLA faculty, staff, and students. Note: Your “library account number” is ten digits, the nine digits from the face of your University ID (formerly “BruinCard”) plus the check digit on the back of the card (near the right side).
- Request Books and Documents from Other Libraries
The interlibrary loan service enables current UC faculty, staff, and students to borrow research materials that are not available at UCLA libraries. Materials are obtained from other libraries, both in this country and abroad. The service is generally free to eligible borrowers. Note: Your “library account number” is ten digits, the nine digits from the face of your University ID (formerly “BruinCard”) plus the check digit on the back of the card (near the right side). Log in to My ILL Request to check the status of an interlibrary loan or document delivery request, renew interlibrary loan books, or cancel an interlibrary loan request. Detailed instructions on how to use “My ILL Request” are available at http://express.lawlib.ucla.edu/ildac/MyILL.pdf.
