The papers by Paul Schoening and Patricia E. Gallagher were presented at the ALHHS Annual Meeting in Charleston on April 19, 2001. Mr. Schoening is Interim Director at the Bernard Becker Medical Library, Washington University; Ms. Gallagher is Special Projects Coordinator at The New York Academy of Medicine.

Featured in this issue are highlights of an exhibit at the Health Sciences Library in Buffalo entitled From Birth to Death at the Pan-American Exposition celebrating the centennial of this event; an exhibit at the Kempner Exhibition Gallery on the Morningside Campus of Columbia University entitled From Hippocrates to Gray's Anatomy: Highlights from the Archives and Special Collections of the Augustus C. News from HMD

Elizabeth Fee, Chief of the History of Medicine Division at the National Library of Medicine, reports on the activities of the Division, including the progress on the conversion of the Index Catalogue of the Surgeon General's Office into digitized format.

News from the Wellcome

David Pearson, Director, reports on the activities of the Wellcome Library in London, including an image digitization project, which will make available 150,000 medical-related images on the Web by the fall of 2001.
