About International and Area Studies

The International & Area Studies (IAS) department, an integral part of UCLA Library’s Distinctive Collections division, is a highly diverse unit composed of multilingual, interdisciplinary librarians and staff, responsible for developing and facilitating access to richly diverse research collections from and about peoples and world regions beyond the United States and Canada, as well as their related global diasporas. Representing UCLA Library, IAS specialist librarians cultivate partnerships with UCLA faculty and selected institutions and organizations worldwide to build and share access to unique digital resources of mutual interest, in support of research, teaching and learning. IAS collections and services introduce and expose users to a wide array of perspectives from around the world, in a variety of languages and formats, to inform and bolster education and scholarship.
